How to find your target audience on LinkedIn with AI

A repeatable way to build an audience list from real people who already engage with posts in your space.

Short answer

  • Your audience is already visible in public engagement on posts close to your topic.
  • Collect names, roles and companies from those posts, then let an assistant group them into patterns.
  • You end with a list of real people and the words they use, which is better than a persona document.

Start where attention already is

Instead of inventing a persona, look at posts in your topic that got real engagement. The people who commented and reacted are telling you they care about the subject right now.

Read the comments before you collect anything. The wording people use is the wording that should end up on your site.

Collect a small structured list

  • Name and role, so you know who is deciding and who is doing the work.
  • Company type and size, so you can see the segment forming.
  • What they said, in their own words, kept short.
  • The post it came from, so you can go back for context.

Let the assistant look for patterns

Hand the list to your assistant and ask for the repeating roles, the repeating problems, and the phrases that show up more than once. Ask it to mark which problems you can actually solve today.

That last part matters. A pattern you cannot serve is a distraction, not a segment.

Turn it into copy and outreach

Use the phrases directly. Headline, first paragraph, and the first line of any message you send. When people read their own words back, you do not need to explain much.

Keep it respectful. Public engagement is fair to read, but treat people as people, not rows.

Common questions

Is this scraping?

It does not need to be. You can do this by reading public posts and writing down what you see, which is slower but safe and gives better notes.

How large should the list be?

Small is fine. Thirty to fifty real people usually show the pattern clearly.
